Archives for : the town of light

Pandorya plays The Town of Light and other news.

It’s been a while since our last update, it’s time to share some news.
The development is still going as fast as we can, we are very satisfied with the graphic results we achieved and we are moving on defining and polishing all the events of the game.
We are trying to reach as many youtubers, journalist, website as possible, in order to let you see how the game is evolving and the point we are so far.

We are trying to give you more translations, the demo of the game is already translated in five languages (Italian, english, russian, spanish and bulgarian) and we intend to have italian, english and russian voice acting.

Probably you already saw some videos going on our social networks (if you don’t please follow us on Facebook and Twitter), anyway this is the video from Pandorya (Thank you so much). It covers the first part of the game, we are realising as a demo (press and youtube exclusive).

That’s it for this update, we hope you like the new visual output and the story so far, let us know what you think about it and share it with your friends!

Merry Christmas and happy new year from Lka.it

New update choosen by you: Characters!

2 weeks ago we launched a “survey” asking what do you prefer as a new update, we want to thanks everyone who answered on IndieDb or Twitter, it was the first experiment and we really appreciate your partecipation :)

You choose: Characters!

Character concept

It’s hard to speak about characters in a game that wants to describe the anguish and the harshness of mental institution; most of the time you were besieged by other patients and other people nevertheless the solitude was your only roommate.
In The Town of Light you will be extremely alone, roaming in the structure looking for the truth about your degence.

Some patients in your same room.

Characters are modeled and sculpted using Zbrush, then we import everything in Modo for the retopology, texturing and rigging. We have only 1 model for every patient but using or blendshapes we are able to change their physical appereance or even their facial expressions:

On Unity it’s possible to change these blendshapes with animations. Everything in The Town of Light it’s animated within Unity, it’s a bit harsh but it does his job.

The following character is designed and created by the guys from Big Rock Academy. They also created a new environment for the game.

These are the guys from the master course of Big Rock Academy, thanks to all of them:

  • Marco Bastianon
  • Riccardo Bellio
  • Giacomo Colivicchi
  • Nicola Toffoletto
  • Lara Zacco

and their supervisors:

  • Lorenzo Conticelli
  • Leonardo Lezzi

That’s it for this update!

Dining hall and considerations

Until the first half of the ’70s, homosexuality was considered by the scientific community a “mental illness.”
They admit to an asylum a healthy homosexual and then, when the patient was able to repress his instincts, they released a disturbed person!

The dividing line between normality and abnormality is not clear. The no man’s land is vast.
Who governs this land and lays down the rules?

Medical records and Gynocology room

It’s been a while since our last update but here we are to show you something new.

cartella_clinica.gif

We started the development of one of the most important elements of gameplay:
the medical record. It will tell not only the story of the protagonist, but will allow us to make choices that will change completely our experience, giving rise to several different endings.

The work on the historical accuracy of the location continues

The asylum was a sort of permanent exhibition of human misery, where each one exposed their fear, their despair, their limits. Just like a trade show there were vendors who exhibited their goods proclaimed with fanfare and those who tried to hide it, locked in their corners, judging themselves not worthy of the public. Renèe, defeated by the inner pain, tried to hide away from everything.

When she was allowed to go in the park she always look for hidden corners and she huddled up there for hours. Immersed in nature, everything seemed distant in both space and in time.
